This workshop is a structured training program designed to strengthen healthcare professionals’ knowledge and practical application of infection prevention principles to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections in clinical settings.

The workshop focuses on the principles of infection prevention and control, with an emphasis on breaking the chain of infection and preventing the transmission of pathogens between patients, healthcare workers, and the environment. It provides a strong foundation in microbiology, modes of transmission (contact, droplet, and airborne), and standard precautions.

Practical components include demonstrations and simulations of correct hand hygiene techniques, donning and doffing PPE, isolation precautions, sterilization and disinfection procedures, and management of exposure incidents such as needle-stick injuries.

Participants are also trained in surveillance and reporting of infections, outbreak identification and response, and risk assessment in high-risk areas such as operating theatres, intensive care units, and neonatal units.

Participants will receive a certificate of competency after being found competent in a theoretical and practical assessment
