Hemodynamic Monitoring

This course covers the study of the movement of blood (from Greek “hemo” = blood and “dynamic” = movement) within the cardiovascular system. It focuses on intravascular pressure, blood flow, and oxygen delivery to tissues, which are vital for maintaining organ perfusion and function. Hemodynamic monitoring is vital for critically ill patients. It enables healthcare providers to assess heart function, guide treatment, and ensure that tissues receive adequate blood and oxygen.

Course Outcomes

  • Understanding the dynamics of perfusion and circulation in the human body.
  • Understanding the key concepts of hemodynamic monitoring
  • Identifying the signs of deterioration of the cardiovascular system.
  • Understand the adjustment of treatment to meet specific blood flow targets
  • Demonstrate the difference between cardiac and pulmonary problems
  • Demonstration of proficiency in both non-invasive and invasive monitoring methods.
